2018 Presidential Awards for Excellence—Call for Nominations
 

We are pleased to announce that we are seeking nominations for Presidential Awards for Excellence for Faculty in the following categories: Scholarship or Creative Activity; Applied Scholarship; Teaching (full- and part-time), Service (to the College and to the wider community). Please save the date of May 17 for the awards ceremony.

We are also pleased to include librarians and laboratory technicians for the Service Award.

Honorees receive a monetary award and will be recognized at a reception this spring.

We welcome nominations from chairpersons or other colleagues, as well as self-nominations. Please submit the following information with your nominations.

 1. The Award for Excellence in Scholarship or Creative Activity for Full-Time Faculty

  • Statement listing the relevant achievements of the candidate
  • Brief curriculum vitae  
  • Published reviews (no more than four) from outside experts and/or reviews of grant proposals, book manuscripts, etc.  
  • Awards or recognition relevant to scholarship
     

 2. The Award for Excellence in Applied Scholarship for Full-Time Faculty

  • Statement listing the relevant achievements of the candidate
  • Brief curriculum vitae
  • Published reviews (no more than four) from outside experts and/or review letters for grant proposals, book manuscripts, etc.  
  • Awards or recognition for applied scholarship

 3. The Award for Excellence in Teaching for Full-Time Faculty

  • Statement listing the relevant achievements of the candidate
  • Brief curriculum vitae  
  • List of all courses taught in the last three years  
  • Student and peer evaluations from the last three years

 4. The Cecile B. Insdorf Award for Excellence in Teaching for Part-Time Faculty*

  • Statement listing the relevant achievements of the candidate
  • Brief curriculum vitae  
  • List of all courses taught in the last four semesters  
  • Student and peer evaluations from the last four semesters

* Candidates who have served a minimum of four semesters (not necessarily consecutively) are eligible for the part-time teaching award.

 

 5. The Award for Excellence in Service (to the College or the community) for Full-Time Faculty, including Librarians and College Laboratory Technicians:

  • Statement listing the relevant achievements of the candidate
  • Brief curriculum vitae  
  • Evidence of outside recognition of the individual's contributions
  • Commendations for service on college committees or from external communities (if applicable)

Applications and/or nominations, with supporting documents, along with a letter of recommendation from the chair of the department, should be submitted to the Provost’s Office at provost@hunter.cuny.edu by April 10.

Note: If you or your nominee have applied in the past five years and have not won an award, and you wish to have your application reconsidered, please feel free to resubmit an application. Just update your or your candidate's curriculum vitae and attach an updated cover letter.
